When the playoffs roll around, Jimmy Butler balls out. He’s a competitor. His dream meal is a championship win, and he's hungry — like the wolf. But no matter how bad he wants it or how great he gets, it's still going to take a team effort to win a title.
So, he can stay exhausted…
…or start elevating his team.
While we can learn from Jimmy Butler’s ability to absolutely annihilate defenders in the postseason, we can also learn that no one can win a championship in a team sport, alone.
There are two ways of approaching improvement. Most do the first, but the players who do the second, win titles.
The Individual Lens: “I’m going to get 100 shots up.”
The Team Lens: “I’m going to organize an open gym.”
Improving yourself will only take your team so far, but you have to do it.
Your goal shouldn't only be to "improve yourself." Think outside yourself, too.
Thinking “How can I elevate my game?” is great, but if that’s all you’re thinking, you’re not thinking big enough. If you want to go farther, you need to think bigger.
Ask yourself, “How can I elevate my team?”
Growing yourself is essential, but growing your team is exponential.
You should endlessly strive to elevate your team.
How?
Organize open gyms.
Have the team over to watch film.
Practice recovery together. Stretch. Take ice baths.
Improve your mental game together. Meditate, watch videos, read.
Doing the above alone is great, but doing it with your team is better.
Start elevating your entire team because that's what it takes to win a title. To take your team to the top, focus on the growth of the group.

...dope thinking Dylan...love that idea of finding teams and employing team structures anywhere in your life...all the wins you get in that environment are completely applicable to friend groups, work groups, stranger groups, even stranger groups like an official stranger group where you can't be there unless you don't know anyone (basically a one time only group)...also jimmy buckets is so dope...imagine if the twolves had him now next to Ant...yikes...
Loved this Dylan! Awesome work man :)
